October for some is the build up to all things scary but at Paragon Carpets, Halloween will pass us buy without even a blinked eye!
Why? October is New Product Development month at Paragon and months of hard work usually culminates in a huge push on new products on just one day …launch day.
So what will October Launch Day herald in 2016 ready to sparkle in 2017? The answer performance cost effective random lay.
Paragon Carpets is launching two products fitting into what is normally the ‘designer stubble’ sector of the market. Most specifiers are aware of random lay and most installers appreciate the fact that you can throw down tiles quickly and within reason the design can never be incorrect…however traditionally random lay has seen a few problems.
- Random lay has a designer focus and producing up to the minute design costs research investment meaning the price of products is usually at the top end of the spectrum.
- Companies may call their product random lay but in reality a lot of the products out there have a very structured install pattern an installer must follow to create the ‘random’ effect adding to installer effort and cost.
- Random lay carpet tiles are generally sold on their basis of high end design and therefore many companies tend to negate the need to build the product with too much heavy duty specification or environmental responsibility – after all this is all about looks. The product is more about ‘I must have it now!’ than I must have a product fit for purpose.
At Paragon Carpets we contemplated all of these practises and decided that wasn’t us! We couldn’t just produce a high end random lay carpet tile like other companies because our products are known for durability and high specifications. We couldn’t focus only on design and not on sustainability because we are known for 80% of our turnover coming from BREEAM A+ rated carpet tiles and operating from the cleanest carbon emissions tile factory in Europe!
We are also known for our excellent service so we couldn’t badge a product random lay if it isn’t truly random lay.
What to do ?…the result was to create two positioned random lay products, both high on design and both with specifications that mean they could be installed in high footfall areas requiring heavy contract status.
TOTAL CONTRAST
Our first launch Total Contrast is aimed at the top end of the design spectrum, a feat of engineering and design excellence this is the Mclaren sports car of it’s group. Perfectly engineered, Total Contrast uses a full and first of its kind regeneration yarn system cycle, meaning yarn waste from landfills are deconstructed, treated, purified and then polymerised all over again into new yarn!

Coupled with beautiful design aesthetics Total Contrast is a mixture of structure and random, it can be truly installed across any of it’s A, B, C or D tiles to generate your own random design….don’t like the layout swap a tile or turn it and create something new!

DIVERSITY GROOVE
Paragon is also known for re-engineering products to make design available to multi markets.
With Diversity Groove we use the concept of random lay and made it more accessible to the market. Performance is still maintained.
With a heavy contract specification and 500gram pile yarn weight , BREEAM A+ rating and colourways with sister product Diversity meaning a multitude of design options can be obtained by splitting an installation into random lay tiles and contrast solid coloured Diversity tiles.
With 5 Diversity Groove colourways matched against a further 21 colourways in Diversity the options are limitless.
Again Diversity Groove has a random lay structure making short work of installation times for a designer product, while producing an aesthetically pleasing commercial finish.
