8 Ways That Paragon Carpet Tiles Are Eco-Friendly

By 7th September 2021 No Comments

Paragon Carpet Tiles was founded with the goal of putting the environment at the forefront of everything we do. We believe that an integral part of manufacturing a product using raw natural materials is working to minimise the environmental impact of that manufacturing process.

The environmental culture at Paragon is ‘reduce, recycle, reuse’, using raw materials from sustainable sources, with recycled content wherever possible. Employees are actively involved in setting and monitoring the achievement of environmental objectives and targets.

Here are 8 ways that Paragon Carpet Tiles are environmentally friendly:

  1. Low Carbon Emission

Our emissions are less than 1% of government targets. The site features a state of the art ventilation system, with air emissions regularly independently monitored for impacts on the environment.

  1. Zero Landfill Policy

As a bare minimum, we recycle all yarn, timber, plastic and cardboard waste produced in our factory.

  1. This includes traditionally non-recyclable materials

Waste pallets are shredded into biomass for energy production, and any general factory waste (which is not considered recyclable) is used as a fossil fuel replacement in an ‘SRF – Solid Recoverable Fuel’ programme.

  1. Repurposing materials

Every single box used for the company’s carpet tiles, whether that’s for a large order, or just a sample, is made using 100% recycled content.

  1. Our products are no exception

Almost 80% of Paragon Carpet Tiles’ products are manufactured using recycled material. These materials are naturally durable and long-lasting, which is why our carpets come with a 10-year warranty, making them a sustainable choice that covers you for years to come.

  1. Low energy lighting

Our low energy lighting saves over 80,000kWh of electricity each year. This is enough energy to fuel 26 family size homes for one year, and results in a Co2 reduction of 41.7 Tonnes (20 return trips to Australia!).

  1. Eco-Friendly Yarn

Some of the company’s ranges, including Total Contrast, are manufactured using ‘ECONYL’ yarn, from our partners, Aquafil. ECONYL is the brand name for Aquafil’s recycled fishing nets or similar products, which the company rescues from oceans and landfill sites across the world.

  1. Staying local

As a UK manufacturer, Paragon ensures that UK-based raw materials, packaging and services are sourced for its operations, using local partners where possible to give back to our Yorkshire community.

Looking to the future, we will strive to be even more environmentally friendly, going above and beyond to surpass industry standards and regulations regarding sustainability. We are extremely proud to be considered trend setters in our approach to sustainable manufacturing and as the world around us changes, we want to continue to reduce our environmental impact as much as possible.
